Starts out on canvas from a thrift store on which I sprayed a bunch of foam insulation.

Then I sketched out the figure in permanent marker.

Then I cut into the outline with a steak knife, following the lines I'd made.

Then I cut and pulled the figure/shape down to the gesso, achieving a pretty decent outline, which I filled in with some house paint.

Then I cut away the rest of the foam, leaving a bumpy surface.

There was some back-and-forth as I went after the right color combinations, but the essential composition came quickly (by my standards) into view.

Goes back to 2019? Pre-Covid anyway. I call it Moon, though my names are just for filing purposes. Acrylic and pastel. Don't think any of that Sharpie made the cut. Size: 24x36in.
