Another one on a crate lid

This one started as a portrait of an Italian actress from the 1950s I saw online. I forget who. I had this weird piece of woody cardboard around, the top of a crate I nabbed somewhere. So I used that.

Once I achieved a likeness, I kept it around for about a year. It lacked something, but I wasn't sure what. Eventually, I added two shapes: one in the lower left quadrant, and one in the top half, a bit left of center. The first became a knife-clutching child, the second a big gray X. And then the starlet turned into a saint or something, not sure.

I call it Knife: mixed, 32x23ins.
